Sunday, Feb 28, 2010

wow, it's the last day of February already. Unbelieveable. Why is it that your childhood seems to last forEVER when you are a child...Christmas' seem like they are an eternity apart, and when you "grow up" (or I should say get older) they seem like you just had a Christmas yesterday and it's already here again.

Just typing this now made me think of George Carlin. Love that guy. Love his way of looking at things. Anyway, he had a thing where he talked about how life should have happened backwards. Let me go see if I can find it.

Here it is...

“The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death! What’s that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you’re too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating …and you finish off as an orgasm."

I was just thinking the other day, while talking to my 15-year-old...who is in that stage where he is convinced he is smarter than Ty and I - I was thinking about this George Carlin thing above...and how if "If I had known then what I know now" and that if we lived life backwards, we WOULD know then what we know now...how great that would be...When you are young enough to enjoy life and are in good shape...to have the knowledge that you do later in life...how great would that be? ahh..wishful thinking! :)

more later...
