Oct 6, 2011 (recap of July)

July was spent doing swim lessons. Started out okay, got worse, then got better. She was jumping off board by the time it was over. :) Still not real confident, though. Does not like to hold her breath.

Travis got his car TP'd. I guess that's what happens when you have no trees...

Also hung out at water park - no pictures, though.

Not the most exciting summer...

I'll continue at a later date...

October 6, 2011 (recap of June)

been a long time, huh? It's been a long HOT summer here in Texas...hottest on record in our area...I think it was around 110 most days...if not all of them.

Here's a few photos from past months....

In June, family came to visit...Linda, Tina, Madyson, Hayden, Crystal all came. We went to on the Turantula train ride.

we also went to the Hyatt Hill Country in San Antonio the week school got out...it was great, as always.

Ty and I celebrated our 14th anniversery. And the whole time we both thought it was 15th.... :)

This photo of Addie was taken that day. I found a program that did all kinds of effects to photos and this effect is called "Lomo"...LOVE it!

On fathers day, we went to - where else? Joe T's!

Sunday June 5, 2011

Ok, since I last wrote...school ended, we went on vacation, and it's now the 2nd week of summer break.

The last week of school was a whirlwind as usual. Travis did not drive all week due to getting insurance for him and waiting for the proof and for Ty and I to let it sink in that he can drive. I realized over this last weekend what is bothering me. When we were growing up, Driver's ed was a class at school and you took it all semester. You drove 2-3x a week, if I remember correctly (mostly on the parking lot in school) and you held a permit for a long time. you drove highway, residential, etc. And although Travis has done all that, I just don't feel he has had enough hrs behind the wheel. He only gets 7 through his school...and it probably came out to 6 for all the times he said they came back early. I'm sorry, but 6 hours does not make a good driver. He drove to school and back with me every day, but that's just to school and back. That's not the freeway at rush hour. That is not Saturday night with all the drunk drivers out. and he is a good driver...he's just inexperienced. I think the laws how they are for drivers to get a license are just not adequtae for producing good drivers. maybe it's because I'm not ready...don't know. Just don't feel like he's ready. maybe it's just me that is not ready. I trust his driving. I don't trust him to react properly to the idiots that drive around him.

Last December, there was a "freak" accident on Mid Cities involving some kids from his school and the other high school, and one of the kids died at the scene. That shook me to the core. Maybe because it was at Mid Cities and Davis...and it could have been me or Travis or Ty or Donna or Keith just as easily as that kid. It was at a place that we are at every day. Maybe it was because the kid that died was just sitting at a stop light when it happened....doing nothing wrong. He was not joyriding or showing off for friends. He was giving another student a lift back to his high school during an off period, sitting at a stoplight, with a truck and another car behind him at the light, when someone came up behind them doing about 70 (in a 30) and barrelled into them and it hit with such force that the front car got pushed out into oncoming traffic (as I heard...not sure about facts). It could have been anyone. But it happened to be a high school senior who normally would not have been there but was giving a friend a ride to school. He left behind a pregnant girlfriend (who has since had the baby) and a single mother, I think. I just can't comprehend what his mother went through...is going through. and a baby w/out a father. and all this happened just a couple of weeks after Travis got his permit. it could have been him. I see wrecks all the time. ALL the time. I know people who have died in wrecks. I did not know this boy. Travis did not know him. But it affected me in ways that surprise even me. I can't explain it.

So, back to last week of school. Patrick's class had their party at school, and their family picnic at the park, which we all went to. Ty made an appearance and left...he was not feeling good. Patrick never gave me the note that said to bring our own drinks and some chairs. ugh.

I spent the whole week making Mrs. Luppy a camp scrapbook. it was basic but I got it done and it turned out cute. We gave it to her from the class and they also collected a good amt for a gift card. it was a good time. Mrs. Luppy is such a special teacher. It's a shame they can't all be like her.

So, the day school got out, we left for San Antonio to go back to the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. We went when I was pregnant, in 1997. LOVE that place. I could just live there. Well, I could not pay to live there, but I could live there. :) They have several pools/hot tubs and a lazy river (with a "float-up bar"). Travis said it was relaxing...I don't think it was as much fun for him as it was last time, when he was "still a kid". I think he would need to bring a friend next time for it to be fun. Same with Patrick. Although Pat did get to play laser tag for 4 hours the last night. it was a memorial day special thing they had for the kids. I think he enjoyed that. Travis would not go with him, though. Addie was at the pool/beach every day. It's the first year she has not freaked out over sand on her feet. She played in the sand quite a bit. It was a good but too short weekend.

Yesterday, I went to the Great American Scrapbook Convention. It's just not what it used to be. not sure I'll be going anymore in the future. no bargains anymore...no manufacturer's coming out...just not as big a deal as it used to be.

Ty and boys went to races, Addie went to Nana's. Donna and I ran some errands and then ate at Arizola's.

North Ridge Elementary goes from K to 5th grade in our district. It is tradtion for the 5th graders to be released 10 minutes early and parade through the halls and make as much noise as they can for their final walk out of the bldg. This is Patrick's walk...

These t-shirts. I had a thought when they were at camp...it's too bad they have all these shirts that have saying from a camp they did not go to, and I thought about them going where no other class had gone, so I emailed Beth Janke and asked if she thought PTA would sponser a shirt that had a Star Trek theme about going where no one has gone before them. Well...she picked up the ball and ran with it and by the time they got back from camp, they had Classen shirts! I was soooo impressed with how she got things done. Wish I had that quality!!! You ROCK, Beth!! :) (and I think she and her husband picked up the tab...as PTA would take too long to get to committee).

Here's a couple of pages from Mrs. Luppy's scrapbook.

This was kinda neat...I found a web site that will make shaped photo collage, so I entered all the camp pictures and made this...printed on 8.5x11 and used the Cricut to cut out the letters/#.

This is Patrick going through food line at class party at school, next to last day of school.

Patrick and Dawson...movin' on to middle school.

Patrick and Mrs Luppy at family picnic.

Travis at Family Kickball at family picnic. 5/25/11. Look at that flexibility! I'm kicking myself because I realized I did not get a picture of Patrick "up at bat". ugh...

Patrick and Addison in the outfield during kickball tournament. That is Sean Janke to their left. His sons are Travis' and Patrick's ages and we have known them since Travis and Seth were in kindergarten. They also had a daughter a year after I had Addison (Lily). He "saved the day" with the camp week...when it was cancelled, he made arrangements for them to go to Camp Classen instead. He was the 5th grade hero who saved camp!!! If not for him, they would not have gotten to go!

I'll do a separate post later on vacation.

Monday, May 16, 2011

Yea, I know it's Tuesday...but I'm writing about Monday. Travis took his driving test today. I got him out of school at 3:15 (they dismiss at 4:10 this year) and went drove up to the DPS...he practiced parallel parking a few times and then we went in. He went to the restroom and I went to check him in for his 4 p.m. appt. She said "Just take your paperwork and your proof of insurance and drive your car around to the test site out back."

Oh. my. God. I just realized I switched wallets a couple of weeks ago and guess where my proof of insurance is? ugh...

So...we look through the console hoping against hope that Ty put an extra card in there, but no...so we drove back home, got it, and went right back. This makes about 7x we have been up to the DPS since this all started. I was KICKING myself. and I KNOW Travis wanted to kick me!

So, we went back, but the lady at the front desk said "if you are more than 15 minutes late, you have to reschedule." ughhhhhhhhhhh. (it was 4:20). So, I went to reschedule and the lady ended up asking the DPS officer if they were go ahead and test him and THEY DID!! and he PASSED! with a 95!

now that that is out of the way...I'M SO NOT READY!!!!!!!

and AFTER he drove home, it occurred to me that our insurance does not cover him with his license...only his permit. So now he can't drive again until we get the insurance coverage.

Last week we went to the top 10 (percent) ceremony at school. Travis is #20 in his class this year.

Today and yesterday Pat stayed home from school, sick. Took him to clinic today and it must be viral...Strep came back negative. He'll go back to school tomorrow. I feel so bad...I never believe him when he is sick. Because he has cried wolf before. But he really was sick this time. Running fever...stayed in bed almost all day yesterday. Poor guy.

We went to Joe T's on Sunday for Bobby Cathey's parent's 50th anniversery party. It was nice weather and we were outside. All of Ty's racing buddies were there. Good times. of course I took the camera!

Last weekend, we went to Joe T's for mother's day. of course! Patsy did not make it...feeling bad due to a "memory drug" they gave her. I did not get a picture of me and mom this year, just realized.

that's all I remember for now...

This is us at the Cathey's anniversery party at Joe Ts

Happy 50th to the Cathey's!

Ty and Bobby...

This is Addie at Joe Ts when we went the weekend after Mother's Day for the Cathey's 50th anniversery. Their son is Ty's best friend. Patrick missed his last field trip to go to this.

Addie at Joe Ts. These pictures just reminded me i need to take that photography class!! Mother's Day 2011

Addied at Joe Ts on Mother's Day.

This is Mom and Dad on Mother's Day 2011, at Joe T's..

This was on mother's day. Notice someone missing? Travis got invited to go to the Mav's playoff game for FREE and even though it was mother's day, how could I possibly let him miss out on something like that? Had to let him go!

This is Travis, receiving his 2nd letter for Academics! He posed for my camera right there on stage! Everyone laughed! Yep...he's a Bailey!

Got up to work this morning, and went to internet to look up a word in the electronic dictionary. When I opened the internet, the headline read

OSAMA BIN LADEN IS DEAD.

WOW. 10 years later. Sad thing is, I'm sure he indoctrinated enough people that it won't stop just because he is gone. and I'm sure some power-hungry right-hand man is ready to take his place.

I know God would not want me to be happy that he is dead, but I'm happy that more people will live now that he is gone.

and what really stinks...Obama will take all the Glory for this one. Sorry George W.

Been awhile since I've written, huh?
well, I'm THRILLED to report that I FINISHED my Project Life 2010 book!!! I took off work last Friday and met my friend at a crop and FINISHED! My goal was to finish by my birthday (4/14) and I finished on 4/15. That is pretty good for me! just the fact that I finished something is good for me! :)

Let see...back in March, my Aunt Norma and her friend Jan and my cousin Colleen came to visit. So I had to clean my house (Colleen probably thinks "THAT was clean??" ) so she could stay with us for a couple of days. She stayed with Keith and Sandra. I was very conscious the whole time she was here of how BORING I am ! But in my defense, I had to work so had to get to bed early, and the kids were in school, etc.

anyway, we had a good visit...always great to have family come see us.

On my actual birthday, I worked, and then that evening I took Travis and Addison to the 1st annual international college night for Texas...in Las Colinas. We talked to many colleges, including one in Ireland that sounded really cool. anyway, lots to think about and it will be here before you know it. Friday night we went to Abuelo's after my crop. of course.

Following that, we did eggs hunts (2 of them) on Saturday, then went to get Patrick a Bedford Snowball snow cone.

Also, Patrick's 5th grade camp week FINALLY arrived...but it got cancelled the day before because the area around Possum Kingdom Lake was under fire. Literally. A wildfire broke out the Friday before, burned 20,000 acres the first day, and to date, (a week later) over 200,000 acres are burned. Fortunately, after going to school Monday, Sean Janke found and got approved a camp in Oklahoma that was just as good or better, so Tuesday afternoon they took off and ended up having an awesome week.

I will post pictures later.

I have the 2011 Project Life kit...trying to decide when to start. I kinda miss it...although not much has happened this year...there ARE things worth putting in there. i'll decide this next week what to do and how I want to approach it...picture every day or just chronological order. the first 4 months will definitely be just chrono order since i have not kept up with it, but we'll see after that.

Just wanted to say, I watched the (taped) Oscars the other night, and I normally don't care what everyone is wearing...if I even watch...but I just have to say, I thought Anne Hathaway had some of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen and she wore them well. Just gorgeous.

just sayin'...
