Thursday, Sep 23, 2010

Well, today is the last day Travis will ever be 15. :( Tomorrow my first born turns 16. Hard to believe!!

Got up today and worked...walked. My ankles and the tops of my feet felt like burning lead this morning. Lead because they felt heavy...burning because they burned...stung...whatever. I need to get back in the 5x/week habit for walking. Feels like I never started...or like I just started. I did not think I had missed that much, but I guess I have.

Addie went to Mom's today...boys had school and soccer practice (Pat).

did not see any wildlife today...or yesterday, on my walk.

It's been an amazing 15 years Travis...you've come a long way, baby!!

Worked...walked finally. I can feel the burn again!

Tuesday, Sept 21, 2010

Worked...did not walk. Been sporadic. Need to get back to it. Worked pretty much all day, off and on...trying to watch Addie too. At least my job is flexible. Had to order Pizza Hut pasta at 9 because Ty did not feed kids while I was working. ????

ate and went to bed after watching new premier of Dancing with the Stars!

Monday, Sept 20, 2010

Worked..did not walk. Busy day. Had to work all day, plus the usual kid runs for school, but Patrick had a soccer game in Coppell tonight, so as soon as I got Travis, had to go and take Pat to his game. Stayed for the game with Addie, who had not had a nap.

This morning, all before noon, she had "drowned" the gerbil (poured entire water bottle out into cage and all over Chewy), sat on DeeDee, who scratched her on the thigh, spilled chocolate pudding on my white (now brown) carpet, and tried to microwave a flour tortilla for 22 minutes. All before noon. Fun day!

Came home from game...had French Dip sandwiches via crock pot (Becky Higgins' recipe). They were really good.

Went to bed after that. Did not even attempt to get lines in. It was too late.

Sunday, Sept 18, 2010

Another unproductive day. I've pretty much become worthless on the weekends. I did go grocery shopping. That's about it. maybe some laundry...I don't remember. (writing on Wed).

Saturday, Sept 17, 2010

Got up early this a.m. to take Patrick to his "Trash Bash" for Luppy's class. Ms. Luppy is still in the hospital (did I mention that? She's been there for 2 weeks), so Krista (her sub) came with us. We picked up trash (did not realize that when I brought Addie) first so I had to go back home and get the stroller and was no help to them...just pushed her stroller up and down Meadow and took some pictures. After that, drove to the Trash Bash (across from Haltom HS). There really was not much to do there. We spun the "wheel of fortune" and there was something with water balloons (gone when we got over there) and not much else. We ate the lunch (chili dogs and chips, lemonade) and then took a class picture and headed back home.

After that, I was pretty much worthless.

Travis raced - last race of season, and Addie and I went to run errands with Donna and then to eat. Stopped at Central Market (my first time there) and got a mini cheesecake but did not eat it.

Friday, Sept 16, 2010

Worked this morning, took boys to school and Addie to Mom's and then I went and met Cheryl at Scrapper's Boutique and cropped all day. Boy, did I need that break! I started on the album that I bought at convention last June for Patrick's field trip to Austin. I got all the letters of the word album covered...does not sound like a lot, but it did take me all day. I also got the new Bo-Bunny "Cambridge" line...probably use on an album for Travis/school. I want their new school line too...but they did not have it there.

Anyway, afterwards, picked up Pat, then Travis, then Addie (from Mom's).

I really really needed that. I think I need to schedule that about once a month. Did me a world of good.

Thursday, 09/15/10

Worked, did not walk. I've been really lazy about walking lately. Think part of it is my schedule and it's taking time away from work, but part is also because Im not seeing any results either. and I know if I stop I will regret it.

After work, got Pat, then Addie. Travis called while at Mom's getting Addie but he ended up riding home with Ryan. Came home and the fun began. Got an Email from Luppy/Krista stating that Pat has 4 tests tomorrow and a poem to recite. And he has a soccer scrimmage, which the last one lasted 2.5 hours. The first thing I did was email the coach and tell him he would not be there. Then we worked on the poem. He struggled with it all night. Ty did spelling and vocab with him when he got home...the 4th test is open book and I am going to trust that he can do that on his own. I made dinner, worked, folded clothes, did some dishes...and damn near lost my cool with Pat and Addie and their fighting. Patrick LOVES that he has power over her and loves to make her scream, literally...and won't back down when she starts to scream and it is like fingernails on chalkboard to me...just PISSES ME OFF. and it went on all frickin' night. I was having a perfectly good day at home alone and then everyone came home and ruined it.

I'll get over it.

I was supposed to be off tomorrow to go crop...but we ran out of work off an on all week and I don't have my lines in. I may just say screw it and go anyway. to save my sanity.

Wednesday, Sept 15, 2010

Worked...did not walk...took boys to school, worked more...had a conference call...got boys from school, went by Michaels to get Travis some stuff for his engineering class...came home and worked more...cooked dinner, cleaned up part of Addison's room..updated blog...then off to bed. another fun day.

But hey...I'm alive, I have a healthy family, and some day I will probably look back and say "remember when I thought my life was dull?"

Tuesday, Sept 14, 2010

I hope I have the right date on there. The days just all blur together now. :)

Today I worked, walked...

Patrick had soccer practice, but we were in deperate need of groceries, so I dropped him on and Addie and I left and went to the store. Ty came by on his way home and got Pat after practice.

Came home and made pork chops, mac n cheese, salad...

then went back to work...then to bed.

fun day, huh?

oh, somewhere in there I picked up Travis.

Oh, today he got to order his Letter Jacket. In case I forgot to mention it, he lettered in Academics!!! I told him he could get whatever he wanted on it. The letter and jacket is given to him by the district...we pay for anything extra. I'm so proud of him I just gave him a blank check and told him to put what he wants on it. Now watch him letter every year! :)

Monday, Sept 13, 2010

There was no work this a.m. which is good becausae at 1 a.m. Addison woke up crying saying that her bottom hurt, and apparently it was bad. I had to get up and give her a bath. Fun.

So, got her back to bed and got back up at 5:30, but there was no work. Went back to bed until I had to get up to get Pat ready/take him, then came back and took Travis, then came back and worked all day. I did not walk this a.m. Man, I am getting bad about it.

Anyway, worked until 4:30, got Patrick at school (was still there with Krista) and her kids, got Travis, came home and they all got a snack, then went to Travis' open house at his school. When it was over, went to Cici's with Patrick and Addie. Trav went home with Ty.

Came home and worked until bedtime.

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Sunday, Sept 12, 2010

had to work today, but there was not hardly any work. Checked off and on all day. I am taking Friday off to crop with Cheryl.

Addison had a meltdown but finally went to sleep. It lasted way too long, but she had a good nap after that.

Ty made catfish for dinner

I could not get motivated to do anything today.

I did not go to Pat's game because I was not about to wake Addie up. The score was 0-0.

Saturday, Sept 11, 2010

Uneventful day. Had dinner with Margie and Sue and their families after their soccer games. Travis went to Ryan's birthday party and ended up staying the night and Ty took Patrick to the races at Cowtown, so Addie and I ate with them at Lina's.

First soccer game tomorrow for Pat.

All that stuff I wrote yesterday, should have been on today's post. I got the dates mixed up on the blog. My bad!

Never Forget. It's been 9 years already. Hard to believe it even happened. I saw something rather disturbing on youtube today... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxFzFIDbKpg. I tried to add a link you can click on, but it does not seem to be working.

now I did not research the Muslim teachings, but if this is true, it is rather disturbing. A religion that teaches 2-faced behavior? I'll stop there.

Boys went to school, Addie back to Mom's.

Found out Travis lettered in Academics today!! Top 5% of class is requirement. Way to go, Travis!! Wow! It's official...he is smarter than me now! :)

9/11/01: Took Travis to school...first grade. Pat was in daycare...at Sandras. On the way home from school that morning, I had the radio on and they were talking about a burning building. I assumed they meant in Dallas, but there was something about the seriousness "in the air" with the DJs that made me curious enough to turn on the TV when I got home to find out what was going on. Never done that before. They were just so somber sounding.

So, got home and turned on TV and saw WTC on fire. Did not know why at this point, had to watch for a few minutes to learn that a plane had flown into it. Now it was weird, because just last week I had watched a show about the Empire State Bldg and how a plane had hit it during a storm, and now there is a light bulb on the top of it, and the show talked about the man whose job it is to change the bulb. I thought, "how sad...the pilot must have had a heart attack or something to have not been able to clear THAT building. It definitely was not weather because it's a BEAUTIFUL day. Clear blue skies..." Anyway, I just assumed it was a Cessena or some small aircraft with an inexperienced pilot. Just when I am thinking all these thoughts...here comes a huge airliner...and it crashed into the 2nd tower.

I WAS STUNNED. What the hell was going on? What on EARTH are the odds that 2 planes would hit those 2 buildings on the same day. The thought of terrorists was not even a possibility in my mind...not in AMERICA. not HERE. not in OUR country. I thought the pilot must be drunk or stupid or....never entered my mind we were under attack until I heard the words on TV. I was just stunned.

I spent the rest of the day working and taking frequent breaks to watch the events unfold on TV. I remember thinking of the poor people that were killed instantly as the plane ripped through the building...never knew what hit them. I thought of the people trapped above where it hit...would they be able to be rescued from the roof? I thought about how difficult it is going to be to repair the building when this is all over. How do you repair something that high up? How many years was it going to take to repair it all? Would they just close the damaged areas permanently and have a shorter building? and then I saw a body fall. and another. and I realized they were jumping. And I was horrified. To have to chose between burning to death and jumping from the WTC...what a horiffic experience for those people. I could just hear them saying "I will chose how I am going to die" and jumping. horrifying....

and then I watched in sheer disbelief when the first tower came down. That had to have been even more shocking to me than the crash itself. and I remember thinking how lucky so many people were that it fell straight down, rather than over to the side on top of another building. How many more would have died if that had happened? I know its not lucky either way...but that was what I thought. and I thought of those inside the building...and I cried.

and then the Pentagon. and Pennsylvania. And they did not know if there were anymore...they mentioned possible targets. And Ty was working at NASA in Houston and I thought "if that is not a target - a Symbol of America - I don't know what is. And I was scared. I wanted him home. NOW.

and I thought of my kids. What had I done, bringing them into this world? Patrick was just a baby. and I thought "what if schools become targets?" and I feared for Travis. I remember calling Beth Janke to see if she was picking up her kids. I decided not to get Travis...because I thought it would scare him. I thought "Life will never be the same for any of us."

and I remember that the airspace over the US was closed and how eerie it seemed that you did not hear any planes flying...for days...Never before in history had that happened.

and I remember when I did hear a plane it scared me when it approached. Why was it flying so low? and breathing a sigh of relief when it went over.

and life has never been the same....

and the country came together. that was awesome.

Thursday, 09/09/10

Worked, walked. I was surprised that the ground was not squishy or muddy at all this morning. There was water standing out there yesterday.

Took the boys to school and Addie to Mom's...3 separate trips.

This afternoon, picked up Patrick, worked a little more, picked up Travis, took him home, got Pat and took him to his soccer scrimmage, then went to get Addison from Mom's, then back to scrimmage. They had not even started to play yet. (irritating). So, we stayed out there for another 2 hours. Had I known that, I would have tried to work some more and then come back. Addison played in the park. We walked over to the ducks and they came right up to me looking for food. I'll have to remember to bring some next time we are there.

Came home and made burgers, then back to work until 10, then to bed.

First soccer game Sunday. They play on the big fields this year.

After I dropped Travis off at the house (and Ryan and Michael), he called to see if they could all walk to Ryan's house, so I said okay. I called Ty from the scrimmage and told him to pick up Travis. He called him but Travis did not answer. He went by Ryan's and Ty said it looked like there was nobody home. Turns out he was at Richfield park playing basketball but did not bother to let anyone know. And at 8 p.m. he was not home and we could not find him anywhere. Needless to say, he is now grounded.

Wed, 9/8/10

No work again this a.m. Did not walk. It was pouring rain all morning. Rained off and on almost the whole time the kids were in school. Flash flooding type rain. LOTS of rain today.

Worked all day again today.

need to start walking....

went to Miguelitos in Hurst for dinner. I was in need of a TexMex fix. Used a Passbook coupon. Bought one from Travis' fundraiser...

Tuesday, 09/07/10

Worked but not until 9ish...no work early morning. Took kids to school and picked up. Soccer cancelled...lots of rain today.

Pizza Hut pasta for dinner. I ended up working until 9:45 p.m.

I did not walk...have not walked this week. Been getting a lot of rain from the Hurricanes that are making their way up here.

Labor Day, Monday, 9/6/10

As I suspected, no work. Thought about going to NRH20 as it is the last day of the season, but never made it out there. Probably regret that later.

Took Addison and went to Michael's (hey, there was a coupon...I HAD to go). and then to the grocery store again.

Made Salisbury steak and all the sides for dinner. Its been a long time.

not much else.

Sunday 9/5/10

Lazy morning. That's what I get for staying up all night. Made pancakes for the kiddos and then made the cheesecake sopapillas for the party, then showered, then tried to lay down but that did not work out so well.

Went to the Motheral's party. They are a couple that live down the street. They have a son, Austin, who is Travis' age, and when they were younger, they used to hang out, but since Austin is a year ahead of Travis in school, when they started going to diffferent schools and hanging with different friends, kinda drifted apart. Anyway, we went to their little get-together and stayed for almost 8 hours...had a good time. It's good to socialize with adults...I don't do that nearly often enough.

Boys don't have school tomorrow. I have to work, but our clinics are closed, so I doubt there will be anything to do.

SATURDAY, SEPT 4, 2010

Uneventful day. Ty took all kids to races, so I called Cheryl and we went out with her youngest son, Colin. It's been a long time since we have gotten together.

After she dropped me off, I went to Walgreens to pick up my pictures and then to the grocery store to get stuff to make for the Motheral's party tomorrow. Came home and worked on the scrapbook. I was not tired at all and stayed up until about 2:45 a.m. Really don't feel like I made a dent in the scrapbook!

Friday, September 3, 2010

Had planned to go to the waterpark after work, but it was in the low 80s today and too cool to go.

Worked, walked, took Patrick to school, worked some more, took Travis to school, then Addison back to moms. Worked some more...picked up Patrick, worked some more, picked up Travis, then picked up Addison. Some of Travis' friends came home with us and then went to the park to play football/basketball. They got back in time to shower and go to the Birdville vs. Richland football game at the stadium. I dropped Travis off and then took Patrick and Addison to Rosa's to eat dinner. Ty did not come home, he went to get his dad after work and they went to the races.

Came home, played with Addison, then got her ready for bed and put her down.

Travis got a ride home with a friend. They won the football game. Go Rebs!

oh, saw this on facebook and thought it was funny...!

For some reason, the link function is not working, so you will have to copy and paste. There is a live version on youtube, too, but this one is much easier to understand the lyrics.

Warning:: It's pretty explicit. If you offend easily, don't listen!

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Worked. Forgot to walk...or did not make time. :) Busy working.

Mom kept Addie today...so I went to pick her up and Travis, came home and ....not much.

We went to the new chicken place on Rufe Snow to pick up dinner (either that, or go to grocery store). It was pretty good! It's called "The Chicken Place." I recommend!

Wednesday, Sept 1, 2010

Wow, already September. :) I say that every month. August really did seem to fly unusually fast though. Guess because I was out of town for half of it.

Worked, walked, took Pat to school, worked some more, took Trav to school, worked some more, took Addison and met Margie and Morgan at McDonalds (play area) and had a quick lunch date to get Addison out of the house. I really think she is BORED at home. For the first time in her life, she is sitting and watching television (Tom and Jerry) and I don't like that. I did not use TV for the boys until they were over 4. I don't want to start that habit with her, but that means breaking down and using daycare. ugh...

Worked some more...Pat rode home with Krista. Got Travis, got gas(oline), bought the kids a slurpee, worked some more, made a paper box for/with Patrick, made dinner, updated blog, and by then, it was time to get ready for bed.

if my life gets any duller.....

Tuesday, Aug 31, 2010

Worked, walked. Only 2 laps because it was time to take Patrick. I can sure tell that I stopped walking this month while out of town...front of my calves are in that "burning" stage again like when I first started. I am thinking its time to add aerobic activities because Im really not noticing any positive changes. I have not changed the way I eat at all, which is horrid...but I figured going from no activity to some activity would help. Does not seem to be. Anyway, I think I might break out the jump rope. Used to love to jump as a kid. Bought the rope a couple years ago and about died the first time I tried....so I guess I'll have to start slow. Anytime I try to do anything aerobic, my chest pounds and starts to feel on fire....its bad. I know I should go to the doctor and have some tests run or something, exercise stress test maybe? Guess ignorance is bliss though. It's obvious that 22 years of sitting at a computer has taken a huge toll on me.

Anyway, Patrick had soccer practice tonight. I was going to stay, but halfway through Addison had a dirty diaper and I did not have any wipes, so I left and Ty picked him up on his way home. We had Taco Tuesday at home tonight.

Monday, August 30, 2010

Worked, walked. Took Pat to school. Or did my neighbor take him? I think she did...can't really remember. Anyway, took Travis to school and then worked some more. After work, got steaks ready for Ty to cook, put potatoes in oven, cleaned the corn and got it ready...and the rolls on the cookie sheet...then waited for Ty to cook the steaks when he got home...had some great ribeyes tonight.

That's about it...

oh, Pat came home from school and sat on the couch and read for an hour or so. I was so proud of him!! Did not even turn on the TV or anything!!
